Spa ozone generator always on

My new spa has an ozone generator and 24hr filter pump. I was told once that running the ozone constantly could cause the spa cover to deteriorate. Should I install a timer on the ozone generator?

I think that most things (ozone, cholorine...) that can oxidize/sanitize all the bad stuff in your spa will also degrade your cover.

I've used chlorine & no ozone and silver ion & ozone and they both seem to affect the cover about the same. I let my ozone generator run 24 hrs and I replace the cover every 8 years (my spa is indoors so all the "weathering" is from chemicals and ozone).
