What to use to get Alkalinity down on a bromine H/T

Hi,

As the title says - I am wondering what to use to get the Alk. down on a Bromine hot tub.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Alki

One way is to add acid to the water. This will lower your PH but if you circulate for a few hours and the alki is very high the PH will rise back up. Add acid in small doses, then circulate, add acid etc. OR the easiest way is to drain the tub and refill with fresh water.

Hi Sand$,

Thanks for your response.

When you say acid do you mean muriatic acid?

I have some for my pool so that would make it easy since i already have the stuff...

BTW i just changed the water - i think that is why the levels are a bit off now...

Thanks again

lowering alkalinity

The only way to lower total alk is to use liquid acid. stand and pour it in 1 spot. The effect of the acid going through the water will reduce the alk. You will need to add ph plus after this to balance the ph. You might need to do this a few times. What is your total alk reading? 130-150 you can live with and will go down slowly.
