Cut solar cover in half???
I am a new owner of an Above Ground 16' x 32' pool. Because of the hassle with removing and covering the pool with the solar cover, I was thinking of cutting the solar cover in half to make it more manageable. Any thoughts on doing this?? I know they sell solar cover reels, but I have not heard good things about them (even from the store where we purchased the pool).
Thanks
Thanks

I feel your pain. Cutting it in half shouldn't hurt at all.
At the same time I've not noticed a real big difference using one. My wife swears it helps but I just don't notice much of a temp difference by using it vs not using it.

This is our first year with a pool so I can't really tell you if there is a difference, but we have friends that swear by them. I think I'll go ahead and cut the thing at least it will make it easier to get it on and off.
Thanks for your reply.

cut solar cover in half???
Hi,
I'm not a poolologist, but I have an in-ground pool, which I use fairly often from March-November (weather permitting). I would NOT recommend cutting the cover (am I too late!) The biggest reason for my using a solar cover is it keeps the water evaporation down to almost nil. Of course the other reason is keeping the water temp warm. I think it warms my pool 8-10 degrees F.
I feel your pain with removing/applying the cover.....Above ground may be more difficult, But using 2 people and working on one side (if its round, maybe 10 feet apart), and together pull about 5 feet at a time in a fan (overlapping) till its all collected, then fold it twice the other way and remove it....make sure you cover it out of the sun, or the bubbles will cook. replace basically doing the opposite....2 people make it much easier. I hope you haven't cut it yet; I have saved literally hundreds of dollars in water bills since keeping the cover on.
