Question Pump Help

We Just Opened Our Pool We Have Put In The Recomended Chemicals, Backwashed It But I Cant Seem To Get The Pump To Stay Pumping Strong? It Is An Inground Pool 16x36. I Am New To Doing This Pool Alone, We Did Not Have It Opened For 8 Years Until Last Year, (I MOVED BACK IN) We Had Someone Come And Replace The Liner And Under Ground Water Lines And He Got Everything Going For Us And Now... I Have Done Everything The Pool Store Says And Everything I Have Read On Line. HOW DO I GET THIS POOL READY FOR MY KIDS????

is it sucking air and losing its prime? it could be a couple of things.
when you start the pump do you see air bubbles in the lid? if yes , then the lid gasket on the pump may need replacing, or the internal pump seal may be bad. i feel sure its just a gasket gone bad from sitting up all these years, and finally give out.

if its none of the above then we'll try another direction, buut include the make and model of the pump and filter in question.
