Restore a filled in pool

I have come across a house for sale which has a filled in concrete pool. They have created a bore hole for proper drainage and it was filled with soil (I believe) and now has grass like the rest of the yard.

Is it possible to dig out the fill and restore this pool? What would be involved? I'm hoping the bore hole can be repaired but then what?

The pool is not large - maybe 15-20 feet long by 10 wide. Any pool equipment has been removed. Any wild guesses about the cost to do this and is it pretty much equal to the cost of a completely new pool installation?

Thanks for any advice.

I would guess that after digging it out, renovating it, buying all new equipment you could have just had a new one installed.

Can you find out through the owners why it was filled. It may have been in such bad shape that it wasn't worth repairing.
