Spa Pack

Hi,

I want to install a 50A GFCI spa pack on the back of the house for a hot tub. I have a Cutler-Hammer breaker box in the garage. I was looking at a length of about 75-80 feet of wire from the breakerbox to the spa pack. I know that I need 6AWG wire. Would that wire be sufficient enough to run that distance, or would I need to go with a 4AWG wire? How much does this wire usually run in price?

Thanks,

Chris

Easy on the Amps

I would definitely go up to the 4awg. After about 50 feet significant line loss and resistance begins building, resulting in heat. better safe than sorry!
