Sand in pool

I've gota neighbor who found some sand/dirt at the bottom of his pool which is possibly coming from an ant colony found along the edge of the pool. I recommended to just sweep the pool regularly towards the deep end where the filter is and the sand will eventually go away. I've got a pool too and remember when after it was built there was some sediment from the concrete at the bottom of the pool and all I did was sweep it. Or I think I remember I did. Any other recommendations?

That will work, he could also vacuum out the sand instead of running it through his filter. I'd treat the ant colony to keep the problem from reoccurring, although it probably isn't a big deal.
