Location would be anywhere you would like it and you have an electrical supply there. There is really no tips, just make sure it is level and on a surface that will hold it.

Cool Help on installing a cal spa

First off congrats on becoming a spa owner. Cal spa makes a quality product and with care it should last you many years . Here are afew things to consider on placement. The spa itself weighs 900+ lbs. with water it will weigh 5000 or more so don't put it on a wooden deck not designed for this load. Don't put it on a concrete deck in a spot that holds water when it storms, the wood frame will rot. Make sure that you have access to the equipment, don't turn it with the equipment door up against a wall. You will need a true 220v line run to it(4 wire) make sure it is hooked up by someone who really knows his stuff.(should have a gfci) If you haven't owned a spa before buy a spa start up kit that contains a dvd or tape on spa care and follow it closely. If you don't have a pad (concrete) to set it on you can build a square frame out of landscaping timbers and fill the inside with (crush and run) A/B size gravel and set it on it. Make sure you use a cover to conserve heat and keep bugs out . Check fence ordinances and make sure you are in complience ! If you use it daily change the water every 2-3 months. Keep your filter clean, use something like a scumball or scumbug to absorb body oils to make your filter cartriges last longer. Hope this helped-ED

Smile Cal spa

Thank you for your advice. Yours was very helpful, we were getting ready to put it on a dirt area we thought was hard enough to hold it. With a wood frame that was under it when we got it. But we held off because we did not think the wood frame would be strong enough. With the water in the spa it would push the wood down into the dirt. Will the rocks help to stop the wood frame from sinking? We live on the bluffs of the river so there is some sand. Most of the yard area seems to be dirt but no hardpan. I don't want to do all this work then have it start sinking. We are not putting it near the bluff due to the wieght. There has been a few times that I left the hose running and have returned to find very large sink holes. But this was near the edge of the bluff. I also need to get a cover for the spa is there any advice on what to look for.

Thank you
