We have a hot tub with a wood paneled frame that is square and has 1.5 inch trim around the bottom. We noticed the trim on bottom is rotting yesterday. First we are going to check for leaks. However, husband wants to repair the skirt on this hot tub. How do we do that?
Should we just try to replace the rotting bottom trim? Is there a way to jack it up to get under it to pull off the trim and replace it? What kind of jack - any jack?
The hot tub is 8' X 8'. With this area rot - would it definitely mean the hot tub has a leak?
Thanks for any help.

First are you explaining a tub with wood skirt? Or a wooden tub? If it is just a skirt, the rot will not have anything to do with a leak. There is not really a jack to lift tub, make sure if you try to lift tub it is completely empty. You can lift a side at a time and place concrete blocks under it and work on one side at a time. It is up to you weather you want to replace just the bottom, or the whole skirt.
Good luck...
