Pool Filter Question

I have owned a 16 x 32 inground pool now for about 6 years and have neve had the sand in the filter changed. Is this something that ever needs to be done. I have had no water problems or filter problems of any kind other than sometimes early in the season some fine sand shows up in the deep end but does last all season.

Usually depends on how well you maintain your pool, cleaning up a green pool all the time reduces life of sand. If its not broke as the saying goes. When you start having issues with keeping pool clear then I would change sand.
