moving pool filter

I have an inground pool and the filter is on the corner of my patio and is an eyesore. i was thinking of moving it about 30' behind some bushes. My question is this: will this added distance have an effect on filtering ability? Also, if i add 1-2 90degree turns will this be ok?

thanks
birch

There is no problem doing what you want to do. Won't hurt anything.

you are actually adding 60 ft. of pipe 30 ft. to the filter & 30 ft. back , each 2 " 90 adds the equivelant of another 8 ft. this is refered to as resistance to flow, in simple terms you would now have more resistance to your waters flow, more strain on your pump ,

my suggestion increase the size of your pipe from 2 inch to 21/2 inch , also use 2 1/2 inch 90 , I realize you have 2 inch at your filter , that can't be helped , just remember to transition to 2 1/2 inch as soon as feaseable

I get the idea behind changing to 2 1/2" pipe, but there will still be about 10' of pipe below concrete. Is it still worth thanging the pipe size leading from the filter to this section or is it a waste since that section will still be 2"?

thanks for the replies

Moving pool filter

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good source regarding step by step instructions on how to move a pool filtration system about 30 feet?

Hey,
As you can see, I did the same thing a few years ago. Basically ran PVC and tried to avoid 90 degree angles. I used a few 45 instead. Worked perfectly. No effect on filter even with the extra distance.
Hope this helps!
