Question Leak repair pvc to PE (polyethylene)

1 1/2" pvc connects underground with a PE adapter.
The black polyethylene is split under the SS clamps so I cut it out. I can't move the PVC or the 1 1/2" poly. Should I reinsert the barbed adapter into the clean cut poly - add a PVC male adapter and use a pvc telescopic (expanding) repair coupling??? are they safe for burial? is a union any better?
I also read about elbowing up from both the PVC and the poly and dropping in a glued section - will that create an air block? or will my self priming pump be able to pull through that?
Thanks in advance.

stick the hose barb into the pe and use a short section of threaded pipe and a union to make it up that way if you have problems in the future you can take it apart for easy servicing. use only schedule 80 if you can find it for underground applications. it is much stronger.

are you going to cowboy up or just lie there and bleed?
