1984 inground Vinyl Pool Coping issue.

So we bougth a house that has an in ground vinyl pool. The liner and lines are relativly new (less then 3 years old) however the coping is (at best) lacking. There are areas of rust, holes, etc. I want to replace the coping but I am not sure hubby can do this himself. He is great at home improvement projects but if it is too involved it will become problamatic. By too involved, anythign more then just removing the old coping to put something new down can't effect the structure of the pool or the liner. We are EXTREMELY limited budget wise and don't have a lot of time living in Michigan and winter bearing down on us.... I posted pics so you can *try* to see how the coping connects. ANY advice would be great!
