pool pump timer

I have a new inground pool that is running on a 2hp 240v pump motor. I want to install a mechanical timer switch so I can control the run time several times a day. I need help inchoosing the right timer for my situation.

What are you looking for as far as cost? Intermatic makes some relatively inexpensive timers so does Rainbird and K Rain. If all you want is to turn the pump on and off at preset times any 220v in/220v out timer will do the job. The biggest problem will be the weatherproof box, unless you can mount it in the garage or shed. I have replaced some of the Intermatic Timers, like most people use on water heaters, that have been mounted on exterior walls and lasted for several years. Usually the box had just rusted away but the mechanism worked fine.

intermatic makes the unit you need and is available in an out door rain proof plastic enclosure.
