pump motor advice

hello all

i put a hayward superpump 2 on my inground last year, and it's making bearing noise like ;you wouldn't believe.

i never sent in the warranty card, so i think i'm out of luck there.

would you take it to a rebuild shop or buy a new motor?

there's only one shop in my town and last time i had a motor job there it was $90, so i'd like to know your thoughts. thanks

You probably have the same motor that I do. I also had a bearing start to scream at me. What I did was order replacement motor and then when I was pumping again I dismantled the old motor and replaced the bearing myself. Now I have a spare motor on my shelf, so next time I have a problem I can switch them out and repeat the process. Had to do some hunting, but found the bearing at Grainger. Think it was less than $10.

The card may not be required if you still have the purchase receipt.
