I need basics of pool operation/maintenance

Does anyone know of any good all encompassing websites on the basics of pool operation/maintenance? I just bought my first house, and it has an above ground pool. I've never had a pool before, so I need to learn all I can. Thanks!

It would also be a good idea to check with your state health department or whatever agency regulates pools in your state to find the required ranges for chemicals etc. Those vary by state and while most of the time private pools are exempted, by maintaining state standards you will help to protect yourself from liability when someone else is using your pool. An example would be on free chlorine, Todrut recommends keeping the level between 1 and 3 ppm, where I live in Nebraska the free CL level is required to be at least 2 ppm and not more than 10 ppm. So following his standards could cause you to be in violation of the regulations here.

You could also look into taking a pool operator class, those usually don't cost much and can be a quick and easy way to learn what you need to know.
