Scummy ring around vinyl pool-GOOD cleaner??

Getting ready to open our above ground, vinyl lined pool, and would LOVE to find something that WILL clean off the scummy ring left year after year. I've HEARD Blue Wave tile and vinyl cleaner is good(it sticks for a few minutes, then scrubs clean). ANY other ideas or discoveries out there???????
THANKS!!!!!!!!

We had a pool for years and always used Comet (or Ajax) with a wooden scrub brush and a little elbow grease. Always came clean.

You want to use a thick acid based cleaner, bioguard makes a good one but don't know the name.

Tried the Bioguard before, not all that great. Water is low enough for good ("dry" access now, so I thought I'd try something new. Maybe the "cleanser" mentioned prior. If ANYONE has other good experience, please let me know. I'm going to give it a go Friday. THANKS to ALL!!
