Wink Dream Pool Vinyl Coping Replacment

My inlaws have a Dream Pool (installed about 25 years ago) they had the liner replaced last year but the vinyl coping is a mess, cracking, etc... & needs to be replaced. (Dream Pools no longer in business - we tried to locate them ) .
It is a 16 x 32 inground pool. The coping that goes around pool seems to be wood planks with a foam layer & then the vinyl layer. The coping has a rounded edge facing the inner part of the pool and flat edge on the outer side of the pool.
My question is - what is the easiest way to get the wood planking up to replace the old foam/vinyl with new foam/vinyl? The wood planking seems to have been nailed in (but there is a small gully in which the nails are sitting - which would make it difficult to use the claw end of a hammer to pry nails up). The liner is not attached to this coping/planking.

Does anyone have a suggestion? Has anyone worked for Dream Pools and know what I am talking about? We want to DIY to save money.
ANy help is appreciated!!

Thank you!!

Yeah, unfortunately, the Dream company no longer exists.

But, yeah, you have a lot of work ahead of you if you plan on doing all of this on your own.

My suggestion is not to do this replacement on your own--you don't want to waste your DIY money for this task because it is likely you won't do it correctly (just as I wouldn't it).

Your best bet is to try to get some advice from local pool service companies in your area, and get free estimates from them.

Oh, a good site that's quite informative is yourhandymanzone.com; there, they have a section devoted to pools and components, and, if I recall correctly, they have a link to a national directory of pool specialists where you can get free evaluations.

Hmm, it's a shame the Dream Pool company is no more; they did good work when they were around, as I recall. Good luck.

We already purchased vinyl & foam backing - I have alot of help...really just need to know what is the easiest way to get the wood planking up to replace the old foam/vinyl with new foam/vinyl? We have the exact same pool problem. We have a dream pool from 25 years ago with the vinyl wrapped around the wood. We ripped all the old vinyl off and have begun to replace the new vinyl, however we can not find vinyl long enough to do the lenth of the pool in one piece. We were trying to find some of the metal clamps they used in the corners and have had no luck to find them. Did you guys manage to replace all of your vinyl successfully? If so where did you purchase the vinyl? We bought marine vinyl from joann fabrics.
