Raypak thermostat

I have a raypak heater on my spa and the thermostat went out, i have looked online for new thermostats and they all seem similar except for the fact that a Raypak thermostat is 5 times more expensive than others, my question is this....
why can't i use a cheaper thermostat?
As long as i have the same length copper and bulb it should work, Right?

Yes there are generic type thermostats that will work fine.
