Hot Tub Water Pump???

Hello, Got around to firing up the Hot Tub after normal winter shut down and it seems the water pump won't kick on. The unit has a air pump type switch and the first click would start the jets and the 2nd click would fire up the air bubbles.

You can hear the switch click to turn the motor on but nothing happens.

I have a couple of questions regarding repair/replacement.

1) About how much would it cost to have someone come out and replace the water pump??

2) Unit is about 20 years old and the fiberglass is starting to crack in some places. Is it worth repairing????

Thanks for any help!!!!! Eric

sometime pumps will freeze up over the winter. Depending on the pump you can take the button cover off the back of pump and turn the shaft to free motor. Or you might have to go from the front and turn the impellar.

OK...... I could only access the electrical end of the pump and it did me no good. The valve where the water enters the pump isn't holding and I'll have to drain the water to work on it. Before I do that, I noticed 2 issues and wanted to know what you guys think.

1) When I re-fired the pump I got a little bit of smoke from one of the vents.

2) The pump housing/casing got hotter and hotter as I continued to work on it.

What do you think???? Thanks

it is getting hot cause it is locked up, you have to be able to turn the shaft impellar before trying to start it. It should work if you can get it freed.
