Chlorine Damage to Vinyl Liner

I have an area about 16" in diameter on the bottom where a large concentration of chlorine was dumped and I didn't catch it in time. The vinyl liner is now somewhat discolored and has a considerable amount of wrinkles in it. Is this cause to replace the vinyl liner immediately, or do I just keep any eye on it to make sure a tear or hole doesn't develop. I would like to know if there are any remedies, besides replacement, but I doubt there are any. The liner is 5 years old.

No remedies and I would definitely at least keep an eye on it, this area has been weakened by the chlorine.

I've had the cheap above ground pools in the past and have had the liner get bleached out in spots from the chlorine not getting mixed in as good as it should [or get out of the floater] and it never affected the liner any except for looks BUT those bleached out spots were never wrinkled. I agree with Mitch - keep an eye on it.... and maybe start saving for a new liner just in case

I'll see how it holds up. I also thought if the liner makes it through the swim season if I could lower the water level far enough so I could get the wrinkles out, and then apply a large "patch over the area. The thought is the patch would hopefully give more support to the weakened area.

Your idea makes sense to me.

it could last you several more years but you don't want to pull and tug on it trying to get wrinkles out. How big of an area is bleached? Small area a patch would be ok, too big and it won't stick well.
