Pool Pump

My pump has died and looking to get another. It is a inground 16 x 32. The existing motor is a .75 horse. I am thinking to go to a 1 horse. Would anyone know if that would be a problem. I existing .75 didn't move the water very well. It did okay but I had problem getting even flow with 3 jets in the pool. Any thoughts ?
Thanks

That's what my pool is ...... 16 x 32 inground. I have a one horsepower pump on it. It's only a single speed. When I replace it again it will be a two speed pump.

What will the 2 speed do for you, I also did some reading and I have to make sure my Filter can handle the bigger size if I choose to go to a 1 horse. Everything is like connected, so have to make sure it a can work together.
A 2 speed, will that also save energy ?

Yes....the two speed can save you energy and money. I run mine 12 hours a day now. It's setup for 4 hours on - 4 hours off, etc.
