Cleaning tiles (possibly calcium)

Hey all, im in south FL and I noticed some white colored discoloring on my tiles, particularly the areas right behind where I have a sheer descent waterfall. I assume this is calcium build up

Anyhow Ive seen several options on the net for cleaning this including using a pumice stone, hydrochloric acid, etc. Wanted to see what the folks here thought the best way to do this? Also I have a pumice stone but afraid to use it as Im not sure if it will scratch the heck out of my tile. Will it?
