Teledyne Laars Series one High Limit question

While changing the high limit switches on my old-timer Series 1 pool heater (EPG 325), one of the wells that holds the switches started to leak before I could get the new one back in.

Aren't those high limit wells supposed to be dry or are they wet and just plugged by the switch itself?

Is there a fix short of removing the entire heat exchanger (and replacing (I assume) brass fittings?) The exchanger is in great shape aside from this issue. thanks

I'm not familiar with that setup but it looks there are two replaceable flanges with seals. I left you the link to the manual below. The parts pictorial is on page 28. The parts you are interested in are # 26, 27, 28 and 29. It looks like they may need to be replaced when the temperature sensors are.

Thank you PJ. I don't think those limits are meant to get wet. I'll going to try a little epoxy in the well before I put the new switch in.
