Old Polyesian Spa Tub Part...

This is my first time posting and im hoping that im doing this correctly -

background - i have an old home with a full basement with a hot tub in one of the rooms. I decided that it was senseless not to make use of said hot tub and started researching the other day the best way to make it functional again -

i know... that its a Polynesian Spa Tub - Aloha III - - and i know the company was big in the 80s and went under in 1990. So parts and such are going to be hard to find...

my question - i noticed while cleaning the shell today that there were two slits on one of the sides of the tub and with a little research - i came up with what is supposed to reside of those slits - -

my question is... what is this? and it is a part one that i have to have in order for the hottub to run? or can i seal it up somehow and move with next task of making this thing run?

thanks in advance!

Can you see the back side? What's connected to it?

That's a skimmer. There's nothing that goes into the slots...they're supposed to be, just slots.

I never saw a skimmer like that, guess they did things differently back then.

Just to be clear, it kinda sounds like the OP is missing this part, since he says slits in the shell and he did research to find what was supposed to go there. I'm guessing that was a pic he found somewhere, not his actual spa?

The skimmer shown in the picture installs into a single 2-3/8" round hole....no slits. You may be right on the picture, as it's exactly the same pic as another on an obscure auction site.
