How can I drain this pool ?

Hello- My neighbor suggested I rent a sump pump, but then I noticed I have a garden hose outlet on one of the pipes in my filtering system. When the filter is running and I turn the knob counter clockwise (open) water starts gushing out of it. I guess I can just hook up a hose to this ? And where do I empty it ? I walked over to the street and could not see a sewer outlet near my house. Thanks for your advice

Is this an above ground or built in pool ?

You should have a DRAIN position on the multivalve. If you just have a valve that opens to let water out it might not work as it may still be circulating water back to the pool.

Also, in order to use the filter to drain out the water.... you'd need a bottom drain and a way to shut the skimmer off and leave just the bottom drain drawing water.

If you don't know if you have this provision.... shoot and post some pictures for us.

As far as what to do with the water.... you'll have to research where it's going to go.

I have a 4" drain line all the way around my property that ends in the street. I pump my pool into this line. The water goes into the street. It goes down two house to a connecting street. Down that short street to the next street where there's a storm drain.

I will see if I can post some photos today. This is in ground pepple tech pool. And the water from the filter system clearly goes out (leaves the filter system completely), so no it does not circulate back to the system. Can I use this outlet to drain ?

That could very well be a sewer cleanout and no..... you cannot empty the pool into it.
The sewer is for effluent only.

My town would issue a steep fine if something like the pool was dumped into the sanitary sewer system.

Ok.....so it's an inground pool. You would need to determine how to shut the skimmers off. Once the pool water is below that point the pump will suck in air.

Actually, I read the instructions on my city's official web site. They clearly state to use a sewer clean out to drain the pool.

I just checked also..... my apology....you are correct.
I'm not quite sure what the reasoning is for that but they strictly say to not discharge into the street.
