Jandy CL460 water POURING out

pool is about 9 years old, came home yesterday to see water POURING out of the filter canister, between top and bottom seam. had problems in the paste with the inside metal band breaking at the rivets, figured that might be it. took it apart, re-riveted the band, cleaned the gasket with gasket petroleum jelly, and reinstalled. same thing happening. Can the canister be cracked?? what is typical life of these canisters?

If I switch from Chlorine to Salt Water, do I still need the canister cartridges or would I replace that with something else? trying to see if this is the time to switch to salt water.

Filter cover has big crack running about 1/3 around the rim. Not sure how/why, but need to replace. Soonest I can get one delivered is Tues-thurs which is longer than I want to wait. Is there something I can use (super glue/epoxy to temporarily seal the crack from inside and/or outside so I can run filter for a few hours over the weekend?
