Relay damaged, piggyback heater onto pump relay

Hi guys

So i have a small 2 person spa, has a 2kw heater.

I noticed it started to not heat so well and led indicator not on.

Through elimination i found the heater relay is not turning heater on, the pump is on fine and responds correctly to temp change requests. I tried the heater on an unused relay and heats great, confirming defective relay.
On my circuit board i have an ozone plug unused as i don't have ozone, which is fed via the same relay as the pump.

Could i switch the heater over to there? As it will turn the pump off when it gets to temperature so would also turn heater off? All cables are correct and the same gauge.

Thankyou

It would help if you told us the name and model number of your spa. Without it we can't tell if the ozone connection can handle the high wattage of the heater. Without knowing I'd say do NOT do it. An ozone generator doesn't use much current while a heater is a huge draw and you risk burning out the control board. Also, most ozone generators are 120v. If your heater is 2kw it's likely 240 volts so the voltages are incompatible.

Thanks for replying.

I'm not there at the moment but will look when I get home, but it's a balboa tub and components, probably about 12 years old.

I'm in spain, it's all 240v, the pump is 240v also

I noticed it started to not heat so well and led indicator not on.
If the indicator is not coming on then the relay is not getting powered.
That would indicate a control issue on the board.... typically lack of waterflow or waterflow sensor not registering water movement.

Can i bridge the relay to test that? There's definitely good flow.

I work on boards down to the electronic level but I'd need the board here.
Board part number may help.
There are no online schematics available to the public for any spa control boards.

You could locate the two coil terminals on the relay and check for power on them when the heater should be energized.

Thanks, i was thinking about trying that. If the flow switch isn't working then i guess power wouldn't be going to relay? If it is then i should see power before the relay and ofcourse if it is relay damaged then no power out.

I'll take a photo and locate board number.

Thankyou

Hey guys

So i found the issue, it was the pressure switch, i tried bridging it and it did the turn the heater and led on, bur then gave a flow error. So tried cleaning the filters no change, then i adjusted the wheel on the switch and bingo, i must have adjusted at some point without realising, all working good now
