Post concret pad for hot tub

I am about to start a concrete project and want to know how to square the corners of the lay out lines for concrete forms. I remember to measure from one corner down two string lines, mark this with a marker and then measure across to the marker points. Something like 3', 5' , and this gives across the long side 7'. I can't remember how far to measure down each line and what the cross measurement is to make sure it is square. Please help.

Geometry-

a squared + b squared = c squared

a and b are the short sides of any right triangle, c is the long side opposite the 90 degrgee angle (hypotenuse).

Also, if you measure corner to corner diagonally and adjust until both diagonals measure the sameyou will have square corners.

Good luck.

Oh, a 3-4-5 is a standard used for this type of measurement or any multiple thereof (6-8-10, 9-12-15).
