Lab efficiency

Getting lab work done has always been a pain. Usually a couple of hours wasted waiting my turn in an overcrowded waiting room.

My DR recently changed his hospital affiliation. That meant a different lab for tests. I had never been there before so I checked out their web site on line to get directions. The site strongly recommended making an appointment even for routine blood work. I made an appointment, walked into the lab 5 minutes early and was met by an IPad on a pedestal. It took me less than a minute to register.

Before I could sit, expecting to wait for an hour or so, I was called and a girl took my insurance info. She apologized saying it was because I hadn't been there before. My appointment was at 9:45. At exactly 9:45 my name was called, a tech took my blood and I was walking out the door probably in less than 15 minutes from the time I walked in.
