taco cut beef in a crock pot?

I accidentally bought "beef taco meat" thinking it was normal cut beef stew meat. Can I use the smaller beef taco meat in the crock pot recipe?

Two days later and no responses. I hope you used the 🌮 beef by now.

I didn't respond because I don't know what beef taco meat is, but generally speaking, you can substitute pretty much anything. You could probably cut the time slightly, but I don't think it matters much in a slow cooker. I've let things cook longer than necessary and didn't seem to make a difference.

I guess "taco cut beef" is just the store's way of selling a product, some left over beef they had? I assume it's just beef cut smaller and thinner than stew beef . I'm a terrible cook, I was concerned cooking the thin beef in a crock pot wouldn't work. Anyway I cooked it, the meat was fine. The meal was just okay. I never know if it's the recipe or the cook when my meals don't turn out very well.

When I make beef stew, I never buy the cut up beef they sell for stew. I actually use sirloin. It's not the tenderest meat, but not the toughest and tastes good. I just cut it up in large cubes. I don't measure, just eye it, they don't need to be exact, and I trim the funny stuff off. I then brown it with onions. Personally, I think it's the browning that makes it taste good.

The crock pot tends to work best for tough cuts which need time to tenderize. Rule of thumb is not to put anything in it which is tender off the bat and anything ground or finely chopped tends to be in that category - not that you can't do it, but these cuts are more likely to get overcooked this way.
