Corn

Two questions.
What are your favorite ways of preparing corn on the cob?
And do you store the corn with the shuck on it until ready to eat it or do you shuck it and then store it?
When ready to eat do you butter and salt it or do you have any "special toppings" you use?

I don't like or eat corn on the cob but I have a brother who will put two ears along with butter into a food vacuum pouch and freeze it. When he wants corn, he pulls out a pack and throws it in boiling water.

We have always shucked & cleaned the ears, put in a freezer bag & put in freezer.

I dont know about specifics on how mom cooked it or how my wife cooked it but in general, a little salt & a spoon full of butter (to taste) and boil in water. Then butter on the table.

I shuck it and refrigerate. When ready to eat I put an ear in shallow bowl of water and microwave for 3 minutes, butter and salt.
I also use those corn cob holder on the end that invariably fall off as you eat the corn.

I shuck it unless I am going to grill it which I prefer. If I'm grilling the husk stays on although I try to remove most of the silk. For grilling I soak it for a while before tossing it on the grill. Usually, I boil the shucked corn although if I'm in a hurry I will microwave it. I can't tell the difference between boiled or nuked.

Usually serve with butter but my favorite way to have it is grilled Mexican street corn.

My wife has this cloth cooking pouch to use to nuke them in the husk. Works great.

Mexican street corn (called elote) is grilled corn slathered with a seasoning made up of sour cream, cojita cheese, lime, chili powder, cilantro and maybe some other stuff. Usually available from Mexican food trucks and food carts. I think it beats butter by a mile.
