Thin-sliced white sandwich bread

I am looking into buying a bread machine, but before I do, I want to make sure what I'm after is possible. I'm wanting to know if one can thin slice white yeast bread (like grocery stores sell), without an expensive contrivance? I know it's easy to slice dense cake-style bread with just a knife, but what about the light springy white bread?

Inventing sliced bread was a bit of an engineering challenge. No, it's not as simple as it sounds. But, it can be done. It is relatively slow to do by hand but easy with a machine.

You might reconsider buying a bread machine. We have two, they've been in storage for years. A good stand mixer and an oven will do a better job.

We make bread once a week. Mostly it is crusty French or Italian bread. White sandwich bread we buy at the store. You can buy bread slicers on line. Just google it.
