Question

I have a front door lockset I am trying to replace (Weslock). I can pry the decorative 'rose' away from the door about half an inch, but I don't see any screws to remove!

Does this type of lock require a special wrench/tool, or am I overlooking the way to remove this?

Some locksets now have a retainer. Not visible screws. There should be a little hole on the inside on the knob. It's usually on the side close the the rose. Just push that in with a small instrument and pull at the same time. I use an icepick. I'm sure you dont have one handy so just use a small nail.

It's exactly as Wreck says. The knob has a retainer disc or pin on the throat that needs depressing while pulling the knob. Then remove the rose which will pry off easily and locate the two retainer screws.
