Angry Schlage leversets locked out

i have a house with schlage double cylinder deadbolts on all (but one) of the exit doors. they also all have schlage keyed leversets.

the problem is that the if you lock the lever, you can still open it from the inside (if the deadbolt is open of course). they claim it is a safety feature. the flip side is that you can walk out a door and shut it behind you without knowing it is locked unless you looked at the tab. this is a very easy way to get locked out.
is there anyway to convert these levers so that they wont open if the tab is in
the locked position?
right now we always leave all the levers unlocked and only lock the deadbolts but i want to be able to lock them all.
any help...other than replacing all the leversets
thanks
Bryan

Hi bryanl
Unfortunately, your Schlage lever sets are not able to be converted so the inside lever locks with the button.
Levers or knobsets offer minimal security, and I usually suggest to customers that passage sets be used to hold the door closed and the money saved can be spent on upgrading the deadbolt.
I've had customers who are afraid of an existing knobset causing a lockout situation too. In these cases, I have disabled the locking feature of the knobset to save having to replace them with passage sets. However, this involves disassembling the entire lock, which is normally beyond something most DIY'ers want to attempt because of the number of parts.

Regards
