Titan deadbolt part that holds plug and body together

Hi. Had a Titan deadbolt rekeyed at a homecenter and the guy couldn't get the last step done. The hairpin type push on pin to hold the little retaining "key" that keeps the plug and body from separating would not slide down into position. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Bob.

Hi jiraphe,

There are a couple things which need to be mentioned with the Titan locks. First of all, in the bottom of the plug, there is a notch the retainer can fit into. However, in order to do this, you, (for lack of better terms) will need a rekeying tool. There are actually two different versions of this tool. The one you need is the one with the notch in the bottom. Have the person simply cut it like a key, and it will allow enough room for the retainer to drop into the plug.

This has made me crazy in the past, until if figured it out. Very frustrating.
