schlage vs weiser

any opinions?
I am replacing locks and door knobs around the house,
so i need some advice as to what to get
the present locks are weiser
any advice would be great, I am leaning towards wesier since I'm thinking it'll be an easier replacement
thanks

Weiser are an old brand that are generally not considered friendly to the trade. Weiser parts are reknowned for their lack of quality, IMHO. They are difficult to repair pr get replacement parts for if needs be. They are usually purchased by those looking for a break on price.

Schlage on the other hand are a little better. They are more friendly to the trade, replacement parts are usually available and the products are generally better made. Pricing is substantially higher too.

If I only had to choose between the two...my preference would be for Schlage.

..or better still, try Medeco, -special keys and a bit more pricey. But I have Schlage on my front door.

Give a choice between the two mentioned, I'd put my money on Schlage as well. Schlage will fit the same cutouts as Weiser.

jatco suggested Medeco. However, Medeco is considered "high end" and is priced there as well.

Regards

Medeco is a great product but IMHO far too much an overkill for the residential market except for main entry points. You wouldnt put them on internal doors.
