How to Remove Security Bars
Hi we just bought a home and there are security bars over all the windows and doors.
The bolt has six sides and a pin in the middle. We don't want to pay a locksmith for this if it can be done cheaply by ourselves. Can anyone tell us where to find the proper tools to complete this job.
Thank you!!

Perhaps the easiest method without purchasing specific (and expensive) tools would be to use a center punch and a hammer to tap each bolt counter-clockwise until you can get vise grips on to them. This is probably easiest and least expensive but quite time-consuming.

Admittedly, you could drill the bolts out. But that would make them unusable in the future.
If you wanted to...you could purchase "Easy Outs" they are a device that resemble a tapered drill bit. Simply drill a small hole in the center of the bolt and wind in the easy out. Continual winding of the easy out (counter-clockwise) will remove any screw or bolt easily.
An easy out attaches to a tap handle. (a tap handle is used when holding taps designed to create threads in metal).

A method that I've used successfully when faced with this type of screw (before I bought the right kind of wrench), was to put a center punch on the pin and give it a tap with the hammer, that will snap the pin off.
Then an allen wrench will fit nicely to turn out the screws.
