Replacing Garage Door Lock
I just bought a house with a detached garage, but the previous owner didn't have the key to the garage door. I want to have the same key work for both the garage door and its side entry door. The lock core on the garage door says "Taylor". It looks like it could be removed by unscrewing the latch mechanism from the inside of the garage and pulling out the lock core from behind. Is this rekeyable, or can it be replaced with another core?

Yes they are rekeyable but in order to use the same key, the keyways have to match. Will your other key slide in to the garage door lock?
If not you can purchase a new rim cylinder keyed to your side door. They are relatively inexpensive for the common brands.
Typically, you have to remove the handle/latch assembly from the garage door and the screws to remove the rim cylinder will be accessible underneath.
