Welcome to the forums, eurogirlstew!

It depends on the age and condition of the lock. Generally, parts are not available for old mortise locks locally or from manufacturers, although there are reproduction outfits and others that sell old parts and new replacements online.

If it is a broken spring, some locksmiths may have spring stock and be able to make a new one if you cannot find a replacement.

Other causes of a loose latch could be excessive wear or loose screws that hold the lock together. No way to know until it is removed from the door and inspected.
