Which lock is better quality?

A) Tell Manufacturing KT2100 (Tubular) $34.99 Cdn

B) Tell Manufacturing KT2300 (Cylindrical) $69.99 Cdn

They both have the Schlage (SCC) - 6-pin solid brass, C keyway, keyed different (KD) Cylinder.

A)

B)

In my opinion, cylindrical locks are often considered better quality and used more in commercial construction. Cylindrical locks are often required to comply with life safety codes/fire codes.

Tie-bolt (the other one) are so named because the mechanism is tied by the connecting screws usually. They are most often found residentially rather than commercially (in USA).

Some of them are reasonable quality and I cannot personally vouch for the particular brand you have stated.

These are similar to imported locks going under a dozen different names, but generally, the cheaper lock shown is strictly a residential, light duty, low security lock, and the other one is a Grade 2 medium duty, low security, lock allbeit designed for more frequent use, such as in light commercial.

If you anticipate more than a dozen cycles per day, the grade 2 is a better choice.

Neither offers much security; that's what they make deadbolts for.
