Latch bolt strange sizing

Trying to replace a broken lock from an old door.
I have tried 2 different locks and neither of them line up. It's like the latch bolt is a different size. I just picked up 2 standard locks. Any ideas if there are longer ones? As you'll see on the image the 2 holes for the bolts that join the 2 parts don't line up.

The lower one looks to be adjustable. 2 holes in front... one in back. There is a little spacer you remove to change the backset. Your old one is so mangled I can't tell what kind it is. Include a picture of the handle.

Even with the adjustments, it's like the latch doesn't come to the middle of the door hole.
Might be difficult to see as dark. On the middle photo, the curved piece should be in the centre.

Handle is just a round handle.

Yeah those are some bad photos. Latches aren't "standard"... you need to get the right brand/style for your handle, which is why I asked to see the handle set. Does your old latch have any sort of brand name on the face of the latch, where the two wood screws go?

I don't want to see the knob. I'd like to see the part of the handle that fits through the latch.

I'm assuming the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the hole is 2 3/4"?

Set Back

Measure the set back distance from the edge of the door to the center of the large latch hole. Then buy a latch with that set back measurement. The two common set back distances are 2 3/8 in and 2 3/4 in. The one you are trying to use looks too short.

That worked, thanks.
Adjusted latches to 2 3/4" and they now fit.
I had no idea they could be adjusted.

Yeah that's what I meant when I said it looked adjustable... glad you got it.
