Longer latch assemby

I bought a door that already had a knob hole in it. When it was drilled it was set just a hair to far into the door. Is there a knob that has a slightly longer latch assemby? Or is there another fix that can be done?

Welcome to the forums.

The backset is the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the 2-1/8-inch bore hole.
In the US..... there are two common backsets for residential door locks: 2 3/8 inches and 2 3/4 inches.

Many lock sets can be changed to either.

I doubt the hole is located wrong. As PJ mentioned, look for the back set pin on the lock and adjust accordingly.

If by "a hair" you mean 1/16" to 1/8" you can chisel the latch mortise a little deeper (if wood door), but if you lack 3/8",as others have said, you've got the wrong backset.
