Door Lever Locking Itself

Have a couple door levers that lock themselves when you use them. They look essentially like this. Any idea what the problem and fix is, other than getting new door knobs?

More specific information is needed since all lever sets look essentially like your picture.
What brand are they. Look at the rectangular metal plate on the edge of the. The brand name should be stamped on that plate.
Please include pictures of both inside and outside levers of your lock. Cellphone pictures are are fine.

I assume when you turn the lever, the button wants to turn with it. I can only think of four things:
1. The lock is binding somehow.
2. If this is on an interior door that's 1-1/4" thick or less, and the lock is too tight, the locking bar may be bottoming out inside the button. Try loosening the screws a bit and see if the problem goes away. If so, cut off 1/8" or so of the bar, then re-tighten.
3. Not likely, but the cylinder tailpiece may be "out of time" tho if this were the case, the key would likely not work right. Timing probably not an issue if it's a Privacy lock.
4. Most locks nowadays are dual backset, but if your actual backset is out of spec, it might result in spindle misalignment.
