Where's the water?

I have a ceiling in one of the bedrooms below the attic that has wet stains........So I check the attic but there are no stains, or wet floor boards??????

I just naturally assumed it was coming from the roof, but where??? Could it be from the gutters and now is runnung into the wall bypassing the upper room???

Or is it trully roof damage; and how do I repair it?????

 

First yo have to locate where the water is coming from. Is the spot wet or just a stain? If it is a stain, it is from a previous leak, may still be leaking or may have been repaired, but the stain not fixed. To remove the stain: Take a spray bottle with a mixture of bleach and water and dampen the area, not to wet or the texture will come off of the ceiling. You may have to do this several times over a week period, but it should remove the stain.
To locate the leak is a bit harder: You have to wait until it is leaking, if there are no signs of leaks in the attic. The next rain you get, you want to spend some time in the attic looking for it. If you are unable to find the leak and the stain doesn't reappear, it must have been repaired, or it didn't rain hard enough.
