question re:roofing

Of course I am not a roof vendor but I have many questions re:
roofs......mine. I asked a question and got an answer. Then I
asked another question and NO answer.

Would it be permissable for a roof vendor to answer questions?
A real roof vendor? Or is this against the rules.

My reason for asking is this: I think I need a new roof and I
now want to know what is the BEST for my area which is Central
Florida.

I have gone to the internet, learned a number of things but now
I have specific questions that I would like to ask anyone that
has real knowledge of the roofing materials for my specific area.

Thank you for ANY info

Answer is?

Avoiding certain questions??

I have noticed that other questions regarding "specific roofing companies" have been avoided as well.
I happen to be one of many that avoids these.
I can't speak for everyone, but I think that it is for this reason:

If someone on here says that "TAMKO" is the best, then someone else comes on here and claims that "No...'GAF' is the best", yet another claims "CERTAINTEED".
Then "ELK", "IKO", "OWENS CORNING", and on and on.
Then you will still be just as confused and we have a bunch of arguements on this forum.

I have my personal favorite that I use exclusively for many reasons. I'm sure there would be plenty of people on this forum that would disagree with me.

For that reason, I think we all avoid these type of questions.
My suggestion would be to ask friends and neighbors, and keep doing your research like you are currently doing.

Good luck.

That's the greatest reply Ive seen on this subject. All companies make good quality shingles because there is good competition. There is a lot of difference in grades of shingles depending on lifespan you expect....30 yr 40 yr 50 yr. Assuming you are talking shingled roof, ask around in the neighborhood, talk to the contractors and form your opinion.

I think that the home depots and the other hardware stores and Roof companies will carry the best product for your area. I always figure if I put on a 25 year roof I will never have to do it again. I will go to another home or ???????????.

Lightbulb what next

I was going to pick a roofing vendor,
but now I think I will still pick a roofing vendor but also go to
Home Depot and to Lowe's and see what I can learn.

So thank you for the idea
