Question New gutters and xmas lights

Since there is not a forum for holiday decorating, I thought I would post here.

We recently spent $ to have new gutters installed. Now that the holidays are rolling around, we REALLY don't want to bang them up with the ladder puttting up xmas lights.

Any suggestions on how to safely perch the ladder against the house and hang the lights (we use the shingle tab holders)?

Also, we have a lighted wreath we would like to hand on the side of our brick house. We tried a few years ago to insert an anchor into the morter, but could not (using a hammer-drill) and special screws. Tips? Suggestions?

Get a ladder offset for your extension ladder. It will prop against the house and keep the ladder clear of the gutters. The Depot/Lowes should have the standard type available (asssuming you do not have deep eaves).
