simple roll asphault roofing
Im new at roofing ! but heres the question??I have an add on 21 by 10 ft porch that has the rolled out asphault roof...it lasted 16 yrs so if i put down a new one ,,first do i put felt over the old one and 2nd do i just tar the edges of the rolled out section that i had just layed and overlap the new one. and third question is: if the old layer has some small wrinkles on it do i just scrape it up and start again?

i would take the old one off so theres less heat build up.the felt paper is a moisture barrier which needs to be nailed down real good with cap nails, tar all the edges under the rolled roofing, then nail the top of the roofing and tar over that, about 5 inches then your next row,tar edges and nail top and so on,there should be no nails on top of the roofing, unless its at the top of the roof then cover with tar(nails on top)
