Water under metal roof

We just looked at a home we entend on purchasing and noticed small patches of water on the under side of the metal roofing. We could see this from the attic. The Realitor said this was condensation. Is it normal for a metal roof to sweat and if so would insulation solve the problem.

The realtor is probably right.. my questions would be - How can you see the roofing inside the attic; Is the roofing applied directly to the trusses or rafters?

Besides that the condensation is most likely from insufficient ventilation. Gable end vents or eave vents may be blocked or not there at all.

Before plywood they put 1 X 6 about 4 to 5 inches apart across the roof rafters and then attached the roofing to these 1 X 6. If you look between that 4 to 5 inch space from the attic you can see the underside of the roofing material. This is where I noticed the water patches.

I see. Like purlins. Insulation will probably not solve the problem. More than likely you will need to add ventilation in the form of a ridge vent, gable vents, or eave vents.
