beam to hang roof off
#1

hello ,I have a rancher with a 4-12 pitch roof.the span of the trusses is 30 ft.my roof trusses are spaced on 16"centres.I think a previos owner has removed a bearing wall, and hung 9 trusses (not flush)with joist hangers(about 12.5 ft)off 2-2x8s from the outside wall in ,and down 3-2x6s to the fire place footing. this beam is also mid span of the trusses. the roof is sagging a bit. would I be able to replace it with 3-2x12 beam .I read a span chart that said at 20 LL, 3-2x12s will span 13.2 ft,I am not quite sure if my little roof fits that category.I have it lifted with a temp wall right now,and am trying to find an answer.one 2x at a time through access ,and will assemble in attic. a lam beam will not fit,and the siding is pretty new.I don't want to put an exposed beam in,it would mess up a realy nice kitchen. any help would be great .THNX all

kle 03,
If you get this in time send me an e-mail with your e-mail address. I would like a sketch of what you are proposing to do then I can help. The description that you mentioned is somewhat confusing but I can help. I'm around most of the day.
Let me know!
